Our Program
Ships Ahoy works closely with the Louisiana Department of Education and the Calcasieu Parish School Board. We currently have seven dedicated classrooms, serving children ages 6 weeks- Pre-K 4. We accept Child Care Assistance.
At Ships Ahoy, We use the amazing Frog Street Curriculum for our Infants and toddlers Our Pre-K program uses DIGG and Waterford. All of our curriculum is research-based, valid, and reliable.
We also use and love the Teaching Strategies Gold framework (TS Gold) to assess our learners across several different areas, including fine and gross motor skills, language development, early literacy, early numeracy and math, social and emotional abilities, and cognitive skills. All of our teachers are highly proficient in TS Gold.
At Ships Ahoy, we love our teachers and value collaboration and teamwork across classrooms. Each teacher receives CPR & First Aid Training and continuing education. All of our teachers have or are working on obtaining their Child Development Associates (CDA) and Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate. All of our teachers are CPR and first aid trained.
We want each teacher to feel ownership of their classroom and have every resource they could need or want to fulfill the needs of every child in their care. Our classrooms have a lot of materials and we rotate toys throughout the center. Teachers are encouraged to ask for everything they need, and we really love saying yes! We also love outdoor play. We offer music, balancing, climbing, and regularly take our learning centers outside.
